Sunday, Sunday....Sunday!

I have a secret, are you prepared to hear it? Sit down, put your seat belts on, and hold on tight. Hear it goes....I am no Martha Stewart.

Yes, Yes I know its hard to imagine. So the reason I bring up this embarrassing fact about myself is because we are having a Super Bowl party and well, I don't know what to make. That's why I call upon the Blogger World. Send me your recipes, Give 'em up you little home makers!

The only thing I know I am making is,
Wings, maybe pulled pork (unless you have a better idea)
Little smokies (no party is complete with out them)
I was thinking about making either a cake and cut it into the shape of a football or make cupcakes and arrange them into a football shape.
I will probably throw in a veggie tray just to make it look like I am thinking healthy

Oh and speaking of "thinking healthy" Since I am job less and the Hubby has 6 days off every other week. We have been hitting the Gym. I now have to tell the hubby's little secret and that is, He has been going to kick boxing class with me! How amazing is that? I was pretty impressed that he would support me that way. I have decided that a swimsuit figure in 2009 will be mine! Yup, that's my new motto and I am sticking with it!

Maybe all the greasy food for the Super bowl may not be such a great idea but I decided if I look like a Suzy home-maker for one day then it will be worth 8 hours at the gym.

I also have decided that if i put my weight up on the computer for the rest of the cyber world to see then maybe I will get completely embarrassed enough to actually keep doing something about it. So I will be posting my weekly weight on the side. Well at least until I hit my goal weight or I continue to gain weight and just to embarrassed to post that anymore. We'll see how it goes!

So back to the reason I posted, I need you to send in your easy, but look like it took forever in the kitchen recipes!
In all honesty, I don't really care who wins the Super Bowl this year, I just like to play host.
Feel free to email me your recipes ashleeschwartz2007@gmail.com

Welcome Obama's

While i was at the gym today, I was lucky enough to be able to watch history happen.
The amazing first family moved themselves and our country into a new era. Our country's future is looking a little bit brighter today. We do have a long way to go to get back to being a stronger nation, and I hope that Barack Obama is the person to get us in the right direction. It was so exciting to be able to see him be sworn in and I have high hopes for him, I hope he honors all his promises.
I wish I was able to be in D.C. to see all the excitement in person. I want to go to a BALL!
I don't think that if Hilary or McCain won the election that there would be this much attention on the inauguration. There is just to much emotion involved when you hear Obama's name. He is so well spoken. I am proud to be an American!!
P.S. How lucky are his kids? They are going to be soooo spoiled!!

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

I made this the other day and it was Ahhmazzz-ing.

I forgot to take a picture of my masterpiece so you will just have to take my work for it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 LB Pork Roast
  • 2 Onions, Sliced, Divided

  • 1 Onion, Chopped

  • 5 or 6 whole cloves

  • 2 cups water

  • 16 OZ of your favortie BBQ sauce

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Root Beer

I put the cloves in the roast then soaked it in Root Beer for about 2 hours in the crock pot. You could probably do it longer or shorter, what ever tickles your fancy. It fell apart very nicely and had a little sweet taste because of it.

Dump out the root beer and place sliced onions under the roast. Add Salt and Pepper to taste. Add enough Water to fill the Crock Pot two thirds of the way. Cover and cook on low for about 6-8 hours. (I cooked on high for about 6 hours and it was perfect)

Remove Roast and discard cloves, bone and fat as well as any water, onions and greese remaining in pot.

When Roast is cool rnough to handle, use fork or fingers to pull ot apart until the entire roast is shredded.

Return the pulled pork to the crock pot. Mix in the chopped onions and BBQ sauce cook for another 1-3 hours or until the onions are soft.

If your going to use BBQ sauce that is pretty thick, add water so that it doesn't turn out to dry.

We also bought macoroni salad and put it on the sandwiches.... it's worth trying!

Walking Disaster

I have Internet finally!!! WOOT WOOT!! PAR-TAY!!
Sorry, I got a little excited there for a minute. But these days the little things get me excited because it feels like big things are going wrong. I might be more dramatic about it then I need to be. So I am going to start thinking positively right after this rant...
The day before Chirsmas I was told I was going to be laid off. The day I got laid off I was wallowing in my sorrows and some friends invited me to go to dinner. Sure Why not? On my drive back from dinner my alternator went out and my car died in the middle of the road. I rolled down my window to talk to a nice gentlemen in a robe that volunteered to push me out of the middle of traffic. (Who drives in their robe? and in the middle of winter?) What I didn't think about is that I didn't have power to roll my window back up. I knew my power steering went out but I honestly didn't think about the powered windows...So me and Bella sat in the 8 degree weather, sitting under a small child's blanket, trying to call James. Over and Over... Why did my husband not come to his phone right away you ask?
Well my knight in shining armor was buying me flowers to cheer me up for losing my job. (They were so perfect and thoughtful to!)
Eventually my knight in shining armor did come to my beck and call, him and my dad were able to get my car home. Luckily my dad was there to help cuz I wouldn't have been able to push my car and try and keep bella warm.
Things will get better, nothing else could go wrong... I will give you the short version. My sister hurt her knee really bad while skiing, her boss was going down the same ski lift and broke his neck, a friend's son broke his vertebrae, yesterday I lost my phone and feel completely lost with out it and Bella decided it would be a good idea to grab hot coffee off the table and pour it on herself (luckily it was not hot enough to hurt her)
Today was a new day and I was being optimistic that things would go better...
I will give you the scene:
A-Hey you want to go get some of the best mexican food you will ever eat in Utah?
J- Sure where?
A- Happy valley
J-But that's like 25 miles away
A-Lets just go, what else are we going to do?
Driving...
Driving....
Bella sleeping and more driving...
A-O' whats that noise?
J-Ummm...We just blew a tire
A-(tears were coming down my face)
B-(tears were coming down her face but only bc she had a rude awakening)
J- Well at least it blew somewhere where I could pull off the freeway quickly
A-Yes, it was a TRUE blessing that this happened.
I would have to say I am not leaving my house for a long time. I think it's safe to say that you should be my friend at your own risk!
Ok but in all honesty, there will be no more feeling bad for myself. I am going to take advantage of being job-less and given the opportunity to be home with my daughter more. I asked to be able to be with her more and I got what I wished for just didn't expect I wouldn't have a job because of it.
I think I am ranting because it is 12:30 AM and I am just excited to have my fingers typing again!
Pitty party-OUT!
